Music: What Are The Best 5 Albums Of The 2000's?

Calexico: "Feast of Wire"
Clem Snide: "You Were a Diamond"
Wilco: "Yankee Hotel"
The Shins: "Chutes Too Narrow"
Steve Earle: "Transcendental Blues"

The Zeroes are halfway over. The only rules on this is that the album needed to come out between 2000-2005. This personally excluded some that I figured were in that time frame (Neutral Milk Hotel, Magnetic Fields' "69 Love Songs"). Mine are in no particular order, just 5 albums I've listened to a ton and think are great.

This is a hard assignment Mr. Boone.

From my myopic view of the world:
1. Broken Social Scene: You Forget it in People
2. Arcade Fire: Funeral
3: Interpol: Turn on the Bright Lights
4: Modest Mouse: The Moon & Antartica
5: Sufjan Stevens: Greetings From Michigan or Boards of Canada: Geogaddi

When did the Soft Bulletin come out? That's pretty much flawless. Also Sung Tong by Animal Collective really hit the spot.

Well, Melissa is closest. In fact she got the top three correct but in the wrong order. Wait...you did pose this question knowing there would be a 'right' answer, didn't you?

Anyways:

1: Interpol: Turn on the Bright Lights
2. Arcade Fire: Funeral
3. Broken Social Scene: You Forget it in People
4. Radiohead: Kid A
5. Microphones: The Glow Pt2

Petrovich, good call on Outkast. Who can help themselves from singing along "Hey, Yeah!" Interpol does not suck! You may not like them, but they by no means suck. The bass line to "Untitled" alone...I can't help it if I cut my musical teeth on the Smith and Joy Division and not Megadeath. Remember taste is subjective--these are the best albums IMO. I can recall in detail the first moment I heard them and the impact was deep and instant for me. And in terms of music snobbery, give me a fucking break. I am so bleeding tired of being called a music snob b/c I don't like the Killers or FF. Why the fuck do you care anyway? Stop being so insecure in your taste. I stand by my choices. Waiting for Mr. "I ran my college radio station" Ferrigno to chime in with some truly inspired music "snobbery".
