Drinking's Funny

"Drinking's funny. When I look back on it, all of our important decisions have been figured out when we were drinking. Even when we talked about having to cut back on our drinking, we'd be sitting at the kitchen table or out at the picnic table with a six-pack or whiskey."

Raymond Carver - Gazebo (Short Story In What We Talk About When We Talk About Love)

Still, it seems like a good idea to use alcohol to hit on someone. One of its (many) purposes is to loosen you up and that is needed, especially when it comes time for the first move. But, isn't it a bad idea when we use alcohol as a time to make an important decision, since some of its other purposes are to make you dumb and impulsive?

But for some odd reason I find it true in my life as well, where alcohol can strangely motivate you to make some grand proclamation about the future of your life...
